The skin of the face manifests red papules, pustules and telangiectasia and, often, there is a thickening (hypertrophy) of the tissues, which sometimes becomes particularly evident in the nose, giving it a swollen and bulbous appearance (rhinophyma). In addition to skin problems, rosacea can cause, although rarely, ocular manifestations (eg. Blepharoconjunctivitis) and keratitis.
Even though it can look similar to acne, the rosacea condition differs primarily with the age of onset and the absence of comedones.
This dermatosis occurs mainly in middle-aged people and those with pale skin and light hair. Women are affected more than men and sometimes several members of the same family are affected.
It is important to mention that rosacea is not a contagious disease, nor is its onset connected with poor hygiene.
Since this is a progressive inflammatory dermatoses, the treatment should be started as early as possible. If the problem is underestimated or untreated, the disease progresses and can disfigure the face.
ZO Skin Health and Medical products are formulated for treating the symptoms of rosacea skin condition, such as flushing, redness, prominent blood vessels, papules and pustules associated with acne.
